چکیده

7 [1] The quasistationary summer Bering Sea circulation is 8 reconstructed as a variational inverse of the hydrographic 9 and atmospheric climatologies, transport estimates through 10 the Bering Strait, and surface drifter data. Our results 11 indicate the splitting of the Kamchatka Current in the 12 vicinity of the Shirshov Ridge. This branching is in 13 agreement with independent ARGO drifter observations. It 14 was also found, that transport of the Kamchatka Current 15 gradually increases downstream from 14 Sv in the 16 Olyutorsky Gulf to 24 Sv in the Kamchatka Strait, which 17 is twice higher than previous estimates. Validation of summer temperature interpolation methods in northeastern Iran

The basis of climatic data is measurements taken at a predetermined chronological order at air monitoring stations, so all measured values of climatic elements can only be attributed to the point of measurement. Therefore, different interpolation methods can help a lot in estimating climate data in different places. The study area in this study is northeastern Iran, including the provinces...

Do Assimilated Drifter Velocities Improve Lagrangian Predictability in an Operational Ocean Model?

The Lagrangian predictability of general circulation models is limited by the need for high-resolution data streams to constrain small-scale dynamical features. Here velocity observations from Lagrangian drifters deployed in theGulf ofMexico during the summer 2012GrandLagrangianDeployment (GLAD) experiment are assimilated into the Naval Coastal Ocean Model (NCOM) 4D variational (4DVAR) analysis...

Non-Fourier heat conduction equation in a sphere; comparison of variational method and inverse Laplace transformation with exact solution

Small scale thermal devices, such as micro heater, have led researchers to consider more accurate models of heat in thermal systems. Moreover, biological applications of heat transfer such as simulation of temperature field in laser surgery is another pathway which urges us to re-examine thermal systems with modern ones. Non-Fourier heat transfer overcomes some shortcomings of Fourier heat tran...

Assimilation of drifter and satellite data in a model of the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico

Drifter and satellite data are assimilated into a circulation model that hindcasts near-surface currents in the Northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Experiments without assimilation, and using assimilation of drifter, satellite sea-surface height (SSH) and sea-surface temperature (SST) data, in various combinations, were conducted. Currents derived from these experiments were used to compute drifter tr...

Investigation of Geostrophic and Ekman Surface Current Using Satellite Altimetry Observations and Surface Wind in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea

The rise of satellite altimetry is a revolution in the ocean sciences. Due to its global coverage and its high resolution, altimetry classically outperforms in situ water level measurement. Ekman and geostrophic currents are large parts of the ocean’s current, playing a vital role in global climate variations. According to the classic oceanography, Ekman and geostrophic currents can be calculat...
